2019 TRANSITION SCOUT

I had a 2019 Transition Scout NX that I bought new it was a stock bike. This is my personal review and opinion about this bike. If you are interested in one of these bikes I hope this will give you some insight about this bike so it might help you make a choice on whether this bike is for you.

  • SPEED BALANCED GEOMETRY helps the bike maintain low speed agility, front wheel traction and proper rider weight balance. SBG has a slacker head tube angle combined with a reduced offset fork which helps with turning and stability.

  • TIRES: The maxxis minion tires did good on the scout when you are on muddy slick terrain they do a good job. They are not the best rolling tires in my opinion. But still pretty good tires overall.
  • FORKS: The rockshox revelation is a good performing fork. Soaks up the big stuff and reasonably smooth over the small stuff overall a good fork.
  • SHOCK: The rockshox deluxe rt is a pretty good shock. I have had this shock on a few bikes and it has always performed really good. it soaks up the bumps and seemed really plush no harshness to the stroke. And if you want a more firmer feel add a volume spacer.
  • DRIVETRAIN: sram nx eagle the nx is a good shifting reliable drive train. That has a smooth and seamless shift no complaints did great.
  • CRANK: The sram nx crank performed really good. As for me I prefer the 175mm instead of the 170mm it came with.
  • THE RIDE
  • DESCENDING: A lot of people claim that this is where this bike shines. I agree this is a rowdy bike that I think is at its best descending. I like the way it takes the curves and feels reasonable stable. This bike carves right into the berms really good overall very good at descending.
  • FLOW TRAILS: The scout does really good on flow trails. It has a 65 degree head tube angle so it is slack but it handles the curves good cuts fairly sharp. The scout is a really a flickable bike so about any hump can become a jump.
  • SINGLE TRACK: The scout does reasonably well but can get tricky on tight switch backs. It handles ruts pretty well but the low bottom bracket caused some pedal strikes. It seemed to me that this bike is more for descending and fast flow trails.
  • CLIMBING: This to me is the bikes weak spot. This bike will get you where you need to go but I did notice that the front end wanted to drift on steep climbs. This is not the most efficient pedaling bike when climbing. It seemed to me it took more energy to get where I wanted to go than other bikes I have had.
  • CONCLUSION: 2019 TRANSITION SCOUT NX
  • Overall I liked this bike it handled well tracked good in the curves a very nimble feeling bike. Here in WV there is a lot of steep climbs mostly single track. Which means a lot of pedaling. So being very efficient at pedaling is very important to me where I ride.
  • If you live where there is a lot of flow trails and descending this is a very good bike. In my picture the seat is not stock it is a diamondback pillowtop seat. I am going to leave a link to a review of the scout below.
