I have been using lizard skin lock on grips for a couple years now. And I would like to share my experience and thoughts about them. So I am going to show you a few different models and share my thoughts and opinions about them with you.
I ride a lot of mountain trails that have a lot of technical climbing and going down hill. So you need a good grip that will hold you to the bike because nobody likes a grip that your hand will not stick too.
FIRM OR SOFT
I have tried firm and soft. The soft grips were comfortable until my hands got sweaty then the soft grips I had became slick. And it seemed to me that it was harder to tell what the bike is doing. I did not feel as connected to the bike as I wanted to. Personally I like grips that are a little soft to the touch but are firm when you grip.
I like grips that are not to thick just thick enough to absorb some of the vibration of the trail. When you have a firm grip you can tell more about what the bike is doing an all around better feel for me.
TACKY OR HARD TEXTURE
Hard texture grips can be very good if the design of the ridges is right. If the grip has a good ridge design it will hold you to it. Personally I like a tacky grip that is not to thick.
I like a good firm bottom feel when I grip. A good firm feel when you grip makes you feel more connected to the bike. And if the grip has some tackiness it will hold you to the bike better. Below I am going to show you some different types of lizard skin lock grips.
LIZARD SKIN CHARGER EVO LOCK ON GRIPS
This grip is one of my favorites I have used this grip for about a year now and no complaints. Your hands don’t slip much even when your hands are sweaty. They have a nice firm but tacky feel and they absorb vibration good. They give you that feeling of being connected to the bike. Length: 136mm,Weight: 90 grams, Diameter: medium 31mm, made in the USA.
LIZARD SKIN NORTHSHORE LOCK ON GRIP
These are good grips if you like thicker grips. They are good for riders with larger hands or for those that like thicker grips. Well if you do then you might want to check these out. Length 130mm,weight 112 grams, diameter 33.25mm.
LIZARD SKIN MACHINE LOCK GRIPS
These are some good grips they have a waffle pattern on the bottom of the grip. This helps secure finger placement which gives you a more secure grip. Length 125mm, weight 101 grams, diameter medium 31mm.
These are some really good grips. They have the same design as the 494 I really like these grips. They are firm and they just grip good. And They have a good feel to them and wear good. Length 130mm, Diameter 30.5mm, weight 112 grams.
SUMMARY
I have gone over some of my personal picks two are my favorites. The charger evo and the peaty are my personal favorites. They are good grips your hands stick good to them and they are firm when you grip. The north shore is a good grip.
Usually for someone with larger hands or likes thicker grips. The machine is also a good grip. I hope this information has been helpful to you possibly help you to make a good choice that is right for you. Dave
